++what's g?

if you've been in the nyc area recently or have watched tv or.. basically if you're alive at all, you'd have noticed the new ads with soft-neon colors and a huge white-filled G. AND!! not just any soft-neon color - kinda remind you of a certain liquid maybe? a certain electorlyte infused liquid? ehh?. but anyway they've intrigued me because they dont' say anything. the corresponding commercials simply say "what's g?" the billboards and subway ads either only have the letter G or a phrase like "shine on".

and.. if you're aware at all, you'd have realized (sooner or later at least) that the ads were for gatorade. OBVSIES! and the narrator of the commercials? yup. our favorite rapper lil wayne. wawoo! i like it. i think it's great. the ads are really pretty. they remind me of the new pepsi ads. and it's a jumpoff from the old "is it in you?" ads with the sweaty athletes. I found an article from Advertising Age with a pretty similar and wordier take on the new "G" campaign. here's another one from Ad Week.

old = ugly!
Bold

new = so fresh and so clean? yay!

pepsi

mm and after i googled a bit. i found out that the same advertising agency, TBWA, did them. uhh great work. but do they have to come out at the same time? and pop up in the same places?ho hum.
